Shawn A. Monty, AIF®

Shawn has been providing wealth management, retirement income planning, and retirement plan consulting services for over 30 years. Shawn is the managing partner of Financial Strategies Retirement Partners, which he formed in 2007 along with Al Gilbert. Licensed in the mutual fund industry since 1985 and the insurance industry since 1988, he holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation and is a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser Representative with Commonwealth Financial Network®. He holds the FINRA Series 6, 26, and 63 securities registrations through Commonwealth while also being the OSJ for the branch office. Prior to forming FSRP, Shawn founded Financial Strategies in January 1995.

Shawn graduated from Bryant College (now Bryant University) in 1985, earning a BS in business administration with a concentration in finance. He has served in a number of capacities on the boards of Child and Family Services of New Hampshire, Bedford Friends of Recreation, and the Financial Planning Association of Northern New England. A lifelong resident of New Hampshire, Shawn has resided in New Boston since 1996 with his wife, Marylouise, and son, Michael.

Al Gilbert, AIF®

Al has more than 25 years of experience in the retirement plan consulting and wealth management field and holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation. Al is a partner in Financial Strategies Retirement Partners, which he cofounded with Shawn in 2007. Before forming Financial Strategies Retirement Partners, Al served as vice president and managing director of RSM McGladrey Retirement Resources and as area vice president for ADP Retirement Services.

Al holds the Certified 401(k) Professional (C(k)P™) designation administered by the Retirement Advisor University in collaboration with UCLA’s Anderson School of Management Executive Education. He has also served as an adjunct lecturer for The Plan Sponsor University (TPSU).  He holds the FINRA Series 7, 26, 63, and 65 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network and is a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser Representative with Commonwealth. Graduating from University of New Hampshire’s Whittemore School of Business in 1990 with an economics degree, he resides in Hollis, New Hampshire, with his wife, Liz, and children, Josh and Ella.

Sarah Kenda

Partner

Sarah joined Financial Strategies Retirement Partners (FSRP) in April 2018.  She has spent nearly 20 years in the financial services industry. Prior to joining FSRP, she worked for several investment management companies. Most recently, she was a Senior Regional Vice President at Salient Partners which specializes in liquid alternatives and hard asset investing. She began her financial services career at Federated Investors as a marketing manager. Sarah’s responsibilities continued to expand to include building relationships with financial advisors and assisting with asset allocation recommendations. She is best known for her high-energy and enthusiasm.  And with a passion for investment advice and education, she joined FSRP as a partner and is now helping individuals prepare for retirement and other life goals.

Sarah is a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser Representative with Commonwealth.  She holds the FINRA Series 7, 66, and 24 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network.

Sarah graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Communications from Bentley College in 1993. Currently, she resides on the seacoast with her husband, Steve, and son, Eddie.

Debbie Cote

Client Service Manager

Debbie joined Financial Strategies as an administrative assistant in September 2001 and transitioned to Financial Strategies Retirement Partners when it was formed in 2007 as a client service manager and office manager. In these roles, Debbie assists in the administrative areas of the wealth management, retirement income planning, and retirement plan management aspects of our practice. She also manages the daily operations of the office.

Prior to joining Financial Strategies, Debbie was employed with a legal practice and with IBM in Burlington, Vermont. After she and her family moved to New Hampshire, Debbie continued working in the legal community until she joined Financial Strategies. Debbie lives in Bedford with her husband, Chris, and has two adult children. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, bike riding, family vacations at the beach, cooking, and reading.

Forrest Butler

Financial Advisor and Retirement Plan Consultant

Forrest joined Financial Strategies Retirement Partners (FSRP) in October 2010.  He is a retirement plan consultant and financial advisor, helping both businesses and individuals achieve their retirement planning goals.  With over 8 years of experience in the retirement industry, Forrest specializes in helping companies with every aspect of providing a retirement plan as a benefit to their employees. He services over 75 401(k) plans, and his work has helped to grow the 401(k) side of the business at FSRP into one of the largest for independent advisors in New England. He greatly enjoys working with individuals, providing a framework for reaching their retirement goals and/or objectives, whether it’s within their company sponsored plan, or on their own. 

Forrest is a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser Representative with Commonwealth.  He holds the FINRA Series 6, 65 and 63 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network. 

Forrest graduated from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire with a BS in Business Administration and Management in 2008.  He currently resides in Newfields, New Hampshire, where in his spare time he enjoys running, golfing, and snowboarding.

Erica Warburton

Retirement Plan Associate

Erica joined the FSRP team in February 2016.  She works as a Retirement Plan Associate and is vital to making sure the day-to-day retirement planning tasks are met.  She is responsible for administrative duties that relate to retirement plans and meeting preparations.

Before joining FSRP, Erica worked in commercial real estate development.  She currently lives in Bow, New Hampshire with her husband, Brian, and son, Alec.  As fairly new residents of New Hampshire, Erica and her family enjoy exploring the different places New Hampshire has to offer.

Nicholas Schibly

Client Service Associate

Nick joined the FSRP team in July 2017 as a client service associate.  Among his various roles, he works with 401(k) participants and assists with rollovers, enrollment and transfers to and from retirement plans.  Nick supports his teammates by researching mutual funds and gathering important information to run income evaluation reports for clients. Previously, Nick worked at Fidelity gaining experience delivering guidance to 401(k) participants.

Nick holds the FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network. 

Nick attended Franklin Pierce University where he graduated in 2013 with a major in Marketing and a minor in Computer Information Technology.  Currently, he resides in Litchfield, New Hampshire.

Jeff Smith

Jeff joined FSRP in April 2014 and works with Al Gilbert in the 401(k) marketplace. Prior to joining Financial Strategies Retirement Partners, Jeff worked for ADP Retirement Services, where he spent the past 17 years consulting, providing employee education, and selling retirement plan services to small and medium-size companies. Jeff began his retirement plan consulting career in 1980 with The Travelers Insurance group in Hartford, Connecticut, and subsequently worked in various sales and service capacities with Sun Life and Mercer prior to joining ADP. His background of 30-plus years in the industry makes him uniquely qualified for his current role within Financial Strategies Retirement Partners, focusing on payroll integration, sales, and service of retirement plans.

Jeff and his wife, Tina, live in Merrimack, New Hampshire, where they enjoy traveling, golfing, spending time on the Cape, and skiing our New England mountains in the winter.
